Since I’ll be at home most of the time this January, I decided to redecorate our home. That won’t be easy I know, especially because our house is small… but rejoice because that’s the reason I’m selling all these stuffs at low prices

The grease, dirt, oil, and other particles our eyes cannot see…

My emotional quotient is higher than ever and I’m so proud!!! I was able to withstand the urgency of the situation… I was able to ignore the immense need to wipe the stove top until after cooking (1 dish). Wow, it feels like passing the marshmallow test! Awwwesomeeee!

So how should one clean a stove top? I usually use a coarse rug in wiping off the oil and dirt to make sure the markings are removed. But before doing that, I wet the rug first with water and a little bit of Lysol Concentrate just to be sure that I’m not merely spreading the dirt all over my stove top. After that, I wipe it dry with a clean cloth or chamois, also to make sure that no water markings will be left behind.

P.S. No matter how hard it is to resist the urge of wiping splattered oil from your stove top while cooking, resist it, to avoid accidents.

Christmas Decor Part 2

As promised, here are some more ideas on how to decorate your homes.

I know it’s kinda too late for this because in a few days, it’ll Christmas already; but hey, Pinoys celebrate Christmas until January. ;p

BTW, this is our first Christmas together as a married couple so we really tried our best to come up with a decent decor even though hb and I are not the artsy type. Oh, and the photos below will show you how far we’ve come lol!

1. Put some garlands over your curtains – use the curtain rods to hold the garlands

2. Santa Figurine – can also serve as your key holder (santa’s head is detachable)

3. Place a center piece – you can have some candles to go with it

4. Decorate your ref – just put some flowers or any Christmas ornament

5. Don’t forget to decorate your terrace!

The last photo isn’t our terrace by the way. It’s our neighbor’s =D

God is good, God is great! Luck was again on our side when hb won in yet another office raffle weee! 2 years ago, he won a mobile phone; last year, he won a Samsung laser printer; this year, an Acer LCD monitor… sweet!

I Thought I Could

I told myself that I will no longer go to this month’s SnR sale because really, we don’t need to buy anything, we’re okay with what we have right now. Besides, I don’t want to shop nonsense while my fellow Filipinos are suffering from hunger.

On the first day of sale, I was very successful at not thinking about the sale until I bumped into my x-officemate.

Me: O, san ka galing? (where did you come from?)

Inggo: Dyan lang sa SnR (from SnR)

Me: errr, madaming tao? (are there lots of people?)

Inggo: Yup!

Me: ahh… sige pasok nako (ahh, ok I’ll go ahead)

On my way to the office, I was already mentally listing the stuffs that I need to buy the next day while trying to compose a good message for my husband so that he’d come with me. The thing is, I’ve already told him that we are no longer going to the sale argghhh! I guess I underestimated my urge to shop, tsk!

… and so I succeeded and we got up at 7am the next day to make sure that we arrive there a little past 8am, which is the store opening =D

And I just have to mention this before I tell you what we bought: the fog lamps and park lights of the car parked beside us was left on, hb and I really thinks that she forgot about her lights due to extreme excitement to shop. lol!

Once inside, we saw our emcee Jerome Go and we are so glad that to know that he is now a doctor and that he is starting to rebuild their house =)

We spent around an hour shopping and look what we got:

Tadaaaaa Corelle set for less than 2,000 PHP

Fat Santa for less than 300 PHP

We also got some candles, Christmas gift items, Anchor baking pan set, and some more unecessary stuffs.

After the shopping, ofcourse we had to take care of our tummies so we ate Pepperoni Calzone and Combo Pizza; gosh sooooo yummy as always =)

Since this will be my first official post for my shiny new blog, I thought that it might as well be about my kitchen, after all, I owe all the food that I’m gonna cook to it. So this post will be featuring my much loved kitchen =D
Theme: Modern and Functional This is what I had in mind when I discussed the design with the interior designer. I told her I wanted it very modern, clean looking, clutter free, but very functional.I told her to hide all the small kitchen appliances in a pull down cabinet, where stuff should be easy to keep and retrieve. So look how the cabinet transforms below.

In addition, since our space is quite small, I requested for a bar type dining table that could also store tons of stuff that should remain hidden for the clutter free feel. So this is what you see outside:

But this is what’s hidden inside:

If you’ll think about it, all these stuff are not really hidden from the cook’s pov so that the cook can easily grab stuff that are needed for everyday cooking like oil, soy sauce, rice, pot holders, chopping boards, knives etc. and yet remain hidden from the visitor’s pov. Nice touch isn’t it =D

Anyway, look at the tall green cabinet below the coffee maker, it hides the gasul as well as tons of plastic bags that we have accumulated from grocery shopping. Right beside my gasul cabinet is my beloved oven. I thought to give it a full body shot just for the heck of it.

This oven is actually a gift from my mom while our ref (now gay looking) is a gift from one of our ninongs – Justice Gregory Ong.

Actual Move In

So whatever happened to our ultimate move?

Our original plan did not push through kase di daw okay ung date according to our trusted source. According to her, our move should either be on April 27 or May 4 ng umaga. Obviously, di pwede ng April 27 kasi di pa tapos ung mga gumagawang construction workers dun at may last minute boo boos pa sa work nila na kelangan ayusin. Isa pa, timing ang May 4 kahit may pasok kasi long weekend un.

Here’s what happened:
Friday (May 1): General cleaning part 1, wala pang stuffs na dinala masyado kasi chaotic pa talaga ang place.

Saturday (May 2): May last minute stuff kaming pinaayos, di lang naman nagkasya ang aking precious oven sa alloted space nya (winner diba), so ayun nag tabas sila at siyempre dumi nanaman everywhere.

Sunday (May 3): General cleaning part 2, we brought some of our stuffs na pero di pa kasali ung major stuffs like matress, clothes, etc. kasi nga monday daw dapat so sige. I believe ito din yung day na naki sale kami sa megamall para makabili ng curtains at nag grocery kasi kelangan daw pag 1st day ng lipat may laman nang food ang house.

Monday (May 4): BQ’s mom contacted her friend for the truck that will transport our matress, sofa, clothes, etc. Actually madali ung pagdala ng mga bagay bagay sa house kasi there were people helping us pero ang mahirap dun was ung pagligpit from our bags to the cabinets, as in nakakalokaaaaa. May dala nga pala kaming asin and bigas kasi ito supposedly ang aming move in date =D Sabi nila dapat yun daw ang unang dinala namin pero what can we do, dati pa kami nag uunti unti sa pagdala ng stuffs so basta ang importante, nadala din. Ito din yung day na dineliver ang aming beloved bed hehehe

It has almost been a month since our move in pero until now, chaotic pa din ang office, di ko pa din nakukuha lahat ng stuffs ko from Antipolo, madami pa ding kulang na gamit, nakakalat pa din ang wires ng sound system, and madami pa din akong iniisip irearrange. I guess tama nga ang sabi nila, ang paglipat ng house ay di biro, kelangan ng matinding patience and sipag cyempre.

OO ALMOST FINISHED NA!

Words can’t describe my excitement these days kasi according to our contractor, hauling and cleaning nalang daw ang To Do nila tomorrow. And as far as I know, halos fully paid na kame so dapat lang daba! weee! Sa sunday, general cleaning na para pagdating ng aming much awaited bed ay ok na ok na ang pupuwestuhan nya dabars.

So far so good ang progress ng paglilipat, andun na ang aircon, ref, oven, range hood, other kitchen stuffs na gifts nung wedding. So actually ang kulang nalang ay ang center table, matress, sofa, and our clothes na most probably ay sa May 1 nalang namin papadala. And then sana by next week Saturday makalipat naaaaaa!!!!

What Have I Been Doing Lately?

That is relatively an easy question to answer, especially with all the SALEs that’s been going on – S&R from April 1 to 5 and MOA from April 3 to 6; I guess you already know what I’m talking about.

Well, first day palang ng sale ng S&R mega pila nako dun, as in 8AM andun nako. Imagine waking up at 6:30AM after going home late from work the other night para lang makasabay ako sa brother in law ko na ihahatid sa airport and makapunta ng sale with the driver who I planned to help me fall in line. You see, after a hell-ish experience from last year’s sale, I know better now. I know that I should not show up after 9AM because surely madami nang tao and hanggang parking lot na ang line going in the shop and I know na by then, ubos na ang hot items so there…

I must say that the way in was relatively easy and that once inside, there wouldn’t be a lot of people so chancing upon good finds would require less effort. But really, I was very dissapointed because there were very few good items to choose from and it felt like the items there were from last year! BOO!

I stayed there for a little over an hour and was able to buy only a few items – clothes steamer for 4k, ACT II butter lover, pillowcases with 300 threadcount for P150 per pair, and electric kettle.
I went home dissapointed thinking that that was the end of it. Luckily, when I went to Lawson the next day to take care of my clearance, old officemates joined me in going back to S&R to find some more goodies and I went home with these…

Non-slip bathroom rugs for 150 each and Queen set beddings (1 fitted, 2 standard pillowcases, 1 flat) for 900++ =D

White canister set for 600++, plastic pitcher for 200, transparent canister for i think around 80 each and the glass for around 35 each.

Last but not the least – Gibson knife set for 399. This is the reason why we went back to S&R. I already saw this on my first visit but decided not to buy it because walang lalagyan for the knives, but when I saw this exact same knife set at SM Megamall for around 1000, I realized its value ;p

Kanina naman, I went to work early because I planned to go to an Ikea distributor in Makati and was able to buy only 2 items because I cannot decide on some of the stuffs there alone =( Di kasama si BQ, medyo mahirap mamili kasi big items…

After which, nagpahatid nako to MOA for the SALE weeee! Siyempre derecho ko sa home section, and got myself these *wink

Sobrang excited nako sa kitchen ko =( I wanna cook again… hayy
